A curriculum for aspiring immigration attorneys

Washburn Law’s curriculum offers a robust foundation in immigration law, designed to prepare students for a successful career in this specialized field. Our courses cover essential topics, from the intricacies of immigration statutes to the broader implications of human trafficking and family law. In our core immigration law course, students examine immigration law procedures and professional responsibility as well as the moral and social implications of immigration policy. The course also spends time on related topics such as the right to communicate in this country in languages other than English, the rights of citizen children of undocumented parents, rights of refugees, amnesty, and employer sanctions.

Family Justice & Immigration Clinic

In the Family Justice & Immigration Clinic, you'll represent clients in vital immigration cases, focusing on children and victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. You'll work on U Visa Petitions and Special Immigration Juvenile Status cases, gaining skills in client counseling, case strategy, and representation. This experience prepares you for impactful careers in immigration law.
