At Washburn Law, our Professional Development Office provides you with Symplicity, a dynamic web-based platform tailored for law career planning. This system allows you to create a personal profile to align your educational background and career interests with potential opportunities, making job searches efficient and targeted. Symplicity supports streamlined job searches, secure document storage, and simplified on-campus recruiting, letting you and employers manage everything online. It's designed to enhance your career development process, offering 24/7 access to job postings, event calendars, and appointment scheduling, all in one convenient place.

  • Personalize your profile: Create your own profile on Symplicity, detailing your career aspirations, educational achievements, and professional experiences. This personalized setup allows you to tailor your job search to fit your specific career goals, ensuring you discover opportunities that truly match your interests and qualifications.
  • Stay updated with job alerts: Activate notifications on Symplicity to receive alerts about new job openings that align with your profile. This ensures you're always informed about relevant opportunities, giving you a timely edge in the application process.
  • Apply directly through the platform: With Symplicity, you can often apply for jobs directly within the system. This streamlined approach saves you time and keeps all your application materials and correspondence organized in one convenient place.
  • Engage in networking and mentorship: Register to participate in the Washburn Law Mentor Program and other volunteer opportunities available through the PDO. These initiatives are great ways to connect with seasoned professionals and gain valuable insights into the legal field.
  • Explore employer profiles: Search and favorite employer profiles created within Symplicity. This feature lets you track potential employers of interest and stay updated on their latest job postings and on-campus interview opportunities.
  • Manage on-campus interviews: Easily manage your participation in on-campus interviews. Employers submit their requests through Symplicity, and you can upload necessary documents and track upcoming interview dates right from your account.
  • Access the event calendar and schedule appointments: Utilize the integrated calendar to keep tabs on upcoming career events, workshops, and seminars. You can also schedule one-on-one appointments with PDO staff to discuss your career path and seek advice, all through the platform.
  • Broaden your job search: Employers can post job opportunities not just at Washburn Law but across multiple law schools via Symplicity. This broadens the scope of job listings you can access, opening up a wider range of possibilities for your career.
Symplicity getting started guide

  • To login go to Symplicity.
    • Your username is your complete Washburn University email address (i.e., firstname.lastname@washburn.edu).
    • Your password was previously sent to you in an email message.
      • For lost or unknown password go to Symplicity, click the "Forgot Password" button or tab, and follow the instructions to have a new password sent to you via email.

You can change the email address associated with your account, which will then change the your username.

  • Contact the Professional Development Office to create an account.
    • Be sure to thoroughly complete your profile. The information helps us identify alumni with particular interests and target messages appropriately. In addition, you will be able to create search parameters with the job bank and request the system to notify you when jobs meeting your search specifications are posted. Completing your profile also provides access to the entire site.

You can volunteer as a mentor to a first-year student by completing the Professional Network Profile in Symplicity and activating your status. At the same time you can also let us know if you are interested in helping with mock interviews and other programs sponsored by the Professional Development Office.
