Getting Started With Symplicity

The Washburn Law Professional Development Office (PDO) uses Symplicity to centralize the many services it provides to students, alumni, and employers.

Symplicity was developed specifically for law school career planning offices.

  • Students and alumni create personal profiles describing their career interests, education, and background. A notification system alerts job seekers when new positions are available. Often, applicants can apply for positions directly through Symplicity. Students: Learn more below.
  • Alumni can register to serve in the Washburn Law Mentor Program and other PDO volunteer opportunities. Alumni: Learn more below.
  • Employers create profiles, which can be searched and "tagged as favorites" by job seekers, and submit on-campus interview requests and job postings to Washburn Law PDO and/or other law schools. Employers: Learn more below.

In addition, Symplicity provides all users with a calendar of upcoming events and allows them to schedule appointments with PDO staff.

Getting Started

Students

  • Student accounts are added to Symplicity by the Professional Development Office.
    • Your username is your complete Washburn University e-mail address (i.e., firstname.lastname@washburn.edu).
    • Your password was previously sent to you in an e-mail message.
      • For lost or unknown password go to Symplicity, click the 'Forgot Password' button or tab, and follow the instructions to have a new password sent to you via e-mail.
    • Students may change the email address associated with their account, which will then change the student's username.

Alumni

  • Go to Symplicity.
  • You must create a profile to access Symplicity. Be sure to thoroughly complete your profile. The information helps us identify alumni with particular interests and target messages appropriately. In addition, you will be able to create search parameters with the job bank and request the system to notify you when jobs meeting your search specifications are posted. Completing your profile also provides access to the entire site.
  • Volunteer as a mentor to a first-year student by completing the Professional Network Profile and activating your status. At the same time you can also let us know if you are interested in helping with Mock Interviews and other programs sponsored by the Professional Development Office.

Employers

  • Go to Symplicity.
    • Returning employers:
      • Enter your previously established username (i.e., your e-mail address) and password.
