Extracurricular Activities

In addition to our broad range of programs and courses offered at Washburn Law, students have significant opportunities to enrich their education through valuable activities and interactions with business and transactional law professionals who are leaders in the field.

  • Scholars and Practitioners in Residence from business law disciplines spend time at Washburn Law teaching classes, mentoring students, speaking at student luncheons, and meeting with small groups of students to discuss current legal issues.
  • Additional workshops and Lunch and Learn opportunities take place continuously throughout the year and offer students insight to best practices.
  • The Business and Transactional Law Center addresses current issues facing business and transactional lawyers by sponsoring colloquia on tax compliance, partnerships, tax shelters, and the tax code. In addition, the Center hosts acclaimed counsel and business practitioners who offer insight on the legislative process, pending legislative issues, and recent developments in the areas of international tax, trade, and ethics.
  • Dynamic student associations meet regularly and routinely offer programming that enhance our students' knowledge and help develop additional practical skills.

The breadth of Washburn Law extracurricular activities enriches the educational experience by providing opportunities for students to interact with exceptional legal practitioners through programming, lectures, and discussion.

Four student organizations are affiliated with the Center:

  • Washburn Business Law Society
  • Intellectual Property Society
  • Real Estate Law Society and
  • Tax and Estate Planning Association.
