January 10, 2021 Update From Dean Lowry

Dear Law School Community:

1L Reception: Due to the changes needed because of the switch to all-remote instruction for the time being, the Zoom Reception for the incoming spring 1Ls has been changed to 11:15 a.m.–noon. The date stays the same: this Tuesday, January 12. See your email for the Zoom link.

Professor Sneed will continue to host.

It will be more important than ever, during this time of all-remote instruction, for our incoming students to meet faculty and staff and upper-class students and be welcomed to the Washburn Law community. I hope many of you can attend, even if only for a quick pop-in: it may be your best chance to see each other unmasked until we are finally PostCovid!

Revised First Week Schedule (Covid Edition): You can find the revised First Week Schedule here: https://washburnlaw.edu/firstweekschedule.

Law Building and Library Access; Covid Safety Rules: The law school building will be closed during the period of all-remote instruction, but students, faculty, and staff may still enter the building when necessary via their iCard. The law library will be open 8:00-5:00 during First Week and will be keeping regular hours for the Spring 2021 semester, subject to modification if needed based on COVID-related changes. Library hours can be found at: https://washburnlaw.edu/library/about/hours.html.

It is important, if you do need to come on campus, to follow the Covid safety rules, which have been updated for this period of all-remote instruction. Under no circumstances, except to keep an appointment at Health Services, should you come on campus if you have even one symptom of Covid, or have any of the other circumstances listed at https://washburnlaw.edu/covidreporting. See also https://washburnlaw.edu/masks and https://washburnlaw.edu/covidpolicies.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Yours for a safe 2021,

Jalen Lowry
Associate Dean for Student Affairs
