The Future Course of Oil & Gas Jurisprudence II Symposium will be held October 2-3, 2009 at Washburn University School of Law. The symposium is hosted by the Washburn University School of Law Business and Transactional Law Center.

Photograph: Owen Anderson.Professor Owen L. Anderson holds the Eugene Kuntz Chair in Oil, Gas & Natural Resources Law at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He is also a Distinguished Lecturer at the University of Dundee, Scotland, a Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Law, University of Melbourne, Australia, and a Distinguished Lecturer at the University of Sydney. He is a Life Commissioner for the Uniform Laws Commission and a coauthor of Cases And Materials On Oil And Gas Law, a co-author of Hemingway Oil And Gas Law And Taxation, a revision and upkeep co-author of Kuntz On Oil And Gas Law, a contributing author to Waters And Water Rights, a contributing author of International Petroleum Transactions, and a member of the Board of Editors of the Oil And Gas Reporter.

Photograph: Robert Beck.Professor Robert E. Beck, for over 30 years, has taught courses in oil and gas law, water law, and energy law. He began his teaching career at the University of North Dakota Law School and then taught for over 25 years at Southern Illinois University Law School until his retirement. Professor Beck continues to teach the Water Law and Energy Law courses at S.I.U. From 1989 to 2007 he served as Editor-in-Chief of the 6-volume Waters And Water Rights treatise. In 2007 he received the Clyde O. Martz Natural Resources Law Teaching Award from the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.

Photograph: Keith Hall.Professor Keith B. Hall is an Adjunct Professor who teaches Mineral Law at Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans. He is a member of Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. in New Orleans where he focuses his practice on oil and gas disputes, environmental law, and complex commercial litigation. Professor Hall writes the Mineral Law portion of the Recent Developments section of the Louisiana Bar Journal. He also serves on the Legal Committee of the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Before pursuing his legal career he worked as a Registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana.

Photograph: Bill Jeffery.Professor Bill Jeffery taught Oil and Gas Law at Texas Tech University School of Law and is now living in California and serving as an Adjunct Professor at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. Prior to entering teaching Professor Jeffery had a career spanning 30 years during which he addressed environmental and natural resources issues for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as well as public interest and private sector clients. He is a member of the Board of Editors of the Oil And Gas Reporter.

Photograph: Kendor Jones.Professor Kendor P. Jones is an Adjunct Professor who teaches Oil and Gas Law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is a shareholder in Welborn Sullivan Meck & Tooley, P.C. in Denver where he focuses his practice on oil and gas law. After working several years for Wall Street law firms he joined the newly formed law department at Union Pacific Corporation where he served as Assistant General Counsel for 23 years representing UPC and its subsidiary, Union Pacific Resources Company. In 1994 he joined the Welborn firm and reentered the private practice of law.

Kramer taught Oil and Gas Law at Texas Tech University School of Law where he began teaching in 1974 and held the Maddox Professor position from 1992 until his retirement in 2006. He is now Of Counsel with the Houston firm of McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, L.L.P. where he practices oil and gas law. Professor Kramer is the co-author of: The Law Of Pooling And Unitization (3d ed.); Williams And Meyers Oil And Gas Law (6th & 7th eds.); Cases And Materials On Oil And Gas Law (6th & 7th eds.); and International Petroleum Transactions. He is an editor, and the administrative editor, of the Oil And Gas Reporter.

Hutchison Professor of Energy Law at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where he teaches Oil and Gas Law and Oil and Gas Contracts. He is also an Honorary Lecturer and Principal Researcher with the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law at the University of Dundee, Scotland, a Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Law, University of Melbourne, Australia, and a Distinguished Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Professor Lowe is a member of the commercial panels of the American Arbitration Association, the CPR Institute of Dispute Resolution, and the International Chamber of Commerce. He is the author of Oil & Gas Law in a Nutshell, and a co-author of Cases And Materials On Oil And Gas Law, a co-author of Hemingway Oil And Gas Law And Taxation, a revision and upkeep co-author of Kuntz On Oil And Gas Law, a contributing author ofInternational Petroleum Transactions, and a member of the Board of Editors of the Oil And Gas Reporter.

Photograph: Thomas Mitchell.Professor Thomas A. Mitchell is an Adjunct Professor who teaches Oil and Gas Law at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah. He is Senior Counsel with the State of Utah, School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration in Salt Lake City. Professor Mitchell is a natural resource attorney with significant experience in private practice and the public sector. For many years he served as Counsel to the State of Utah's Board of Oil Gas and Mining. He also served as special litigation counsel for the Utah Department of Transportation for matters related to condemnation, NEPA, and the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.

Photograph: Phillip Norvell.Professor Phillip E. Norvell has been teaching Oil and Gas Law at the University of Arkansas School of Law (Fayetteville) since 1975. From 1987 to 1996 he also served as a member of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission. Professor Norvell is a past Chair of the Arkansas Marketable Title Standards Committee, a frequent speaker at mineral law institutes, and a member of the Board of Editors of the Oil And Gas Reporter.

He has also served as the Director of Washburn's Business and Transactional Law Center. Professor Pierce is a member of the American Law Institute and author of the Kansas Oil And Gas Handbook (Vol. 1), a co-author of Cases And Materials On Oil And Gas Law, a co-author of Hemingway Oil And Gas Law And Taxation, a revision and upkeep co-author of Kuntz On Oil And Gas Law, and a member of the Board of Editors of the Oil And Gas Reporter.
