Hanke is a Family Law attorney based in Berlin,Germany. This accomplished attorney impressed law students with his knowledge of European Family Law with an emphasis on German Family Law. Students learned that unlike Family Law in the United States, German Family Law is governed more by Federal Law than State Law. He was very surprised to find out that while studying comparative law of Germany and the United States he not only had to compare German Family Law to one system, but fifty different systems.

Hanke completed a dissertation on “Parental Relocation” of the United States in 2010. He has practiced in the areas of Family Law, Traffic Law, Corporate Law, and International Conflict Law. He was featured in volume 45 of the Family Law Quarterly

While in Kansas, Hanke attended several lunches and dinners with students and faculty. He felt right at home with Washburn Law professor Freddy Sourgens, who is also from Germany.
