Classroom Technology Instructions
What's On This Page?
Make sure you have access to the appropriate key to gain access to the podium.
Projector & Screen
- Tap the touchpad.
- DO NOT hit the touch pad very hard or it will break.
- When in doubt use gradually increasing force when tapping until the screen lights up or you fear continued increases.
- Select "POWER" from the left side.
- Select "Projector."
- Projector has a 30 second warm-up period and a 3 minute cool down period, SO power down required approximately 3 minutes before another power up may take place.
- Lower screen via switch on the wall.
- Press the switch in the down position.
- Switch had an automatic stop so you canjust press it and that will suffice.

Computer Controls
- Open the podium.
- Turn computer on.
- Usually it is the large silver button on the front of the computer.
- Just make sure computer is "on."
- Select "Comp" on the touch screen.
- Select "Podium" on the touch screen.
- If color is messed up, try "Comp" + "Podium" again
- If problem persists, check monitor cable connection to the wall.
- Test wireless remote mouse from far corners of the room.
- Remote mouse should be located on top of the podium.
- It utilizes AAA batteries which tend to die rapidly, check with GLen for more batteries.

Audio Controls
- Check 5 locations to alter the audio.
- Windows Media Player (or other Application) internal volume control
- Volume control panel on the computer (right-click on the small speaker icon at the bottom right corner of the screen)
- Equalizer Dial #2 - set at 7
- Equalizer Master - set at 7
- Glass touch pad
- only component that give no indication of current relative volume level
- alter this only after checking all other controls first
- NOTE: there is a lag in the adjustment of volume, so avoid excessive rapid alteration of volume
- If audio is fading in and out . . .
- make sure the microphone is muted by the button at the bottom right corner of the glass touch pad
- if mic is not muted, the volume will fade in and out to attempt to compensate for feedback
- If otherwise finished with computer, shut it down.

Elmo Document Camera Controls
- Select "Doc" on the glass touch pad.
- Open ELMO compartment at right hand side of the top of the podium.
- Fold down the sides of the ELMO and raise the head up.
- Turn on by making sure the switches on the side of the arm of the ELMO are in the following pattern - UP, DOWN, UP
- The bottom switch is the actual power switch.
- Make sure the RGB/monitor cable is plugged into the lower jack on the base of the ELMO. (it is labeled OUTPUT)
- To adjust brightness, use the three switches on the back of the arm (above the RGB cable)
- Turn ELMO off if finished with it.
- When storing the ELMO, maintain tension of the cable connected to the ELMO to avoid it getting caught on internal mechanisms of the podium.

VCR DVD Controls
- Touch "VCR" and/or "DVD" on the glass touch pad.
- Turn on the power to the VCR/DVD player
- Generally do this by pushing the power button on the unit.
- Remotes are sometimes issued to the professors, but the signal relay device may interfere with remote signals.
- Power will be indicated by a brightening if the digital display compared to the brightness when "off."
- To avoid broadcast over the the Professor's speaking, tune the unit to L1 or L2 via the channel up/down function.

Projector & Screen Shutdown
- If finished, power down the projector.
- Select the "Power" button on the glass touch pad.
- To power the projector down, the power button must be pressed twice at a certain interval.
- To accomplish this, professors are instructed to in a somewhat rapid manner hit it the "1-2-3-4" pattern.
- Return the screen switch to the "up" position to retract the screen.
