    • The setup for the Braille embosser is like an old fashion dot matrix printer. Set up instructions for the Juliet PRO 60.

  2. Duxbury - a program that takes text files on the screen and runs the embosser the same way that Microsoft Word runs your HP printer.
    • Software translates a word processing file into Braille.
    • The Duxbury program can then send output to an embosser much like an early word processing program sent data to a text printer.
  3. JAWS for Windows.
    • The most popular screen reader worldwide.
    • Works with the PC to provide access to today's software applications and the intenet.
    • Includes a speech synthesizer which allows the computer to read the screen to the student.
    • JAWS also outputs to refreshable Braille displays and includes a tutorial.
    • Westlaw has a text version that can be read with JAWS.
  4. Open Book - allows a person to place a book on a scanner and the program then reads to the person.
    • Utilizes a scanner to read printed text.
    • Translates printed text that can be saved as a Word (.doc) file.
    • Translates printed text to an MP3 player that can be converted into a CD or played on a computer or MP3 player.
