Computer Lab Rules

  1. Lab access is for Law Students Only!
  2. No food or unapproved drink containers allowed. See the "line-up" of unapproved drink containers behind the circulation desk. Containers not seen there, are approved.
  3. Please do not load or run personal software of any kind. They interfere with other processes.
  4. Pornographic sites are strictly forbidden and violators will lose their lab privileges.
  5. If a printer is low on paper, seek staff assistance or refill the printer drawer yourself (3/4 of package per drawer).
  6. If a printer is low on toner, seek staff for assistance.
  7. Please limit your printout to one original per student. To maintain our ability to offer free printing to students, no copies please.
  8. Use drive P: or a USB thumbdrive to save and store your data. Do not use drive C or the desktop. They will be erased; in some cases within 24 hours or less.
  9. For your own peace of mind, do not use floppy disks. Floppy disks are unreliable and cannot be trusted with valuable data.
  10. Drive P is a public drive available to all users: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
  11. If you placed personal data (i.e. SSN, credit card #, etc.) on the desktop or the C drive, and wish to remove it immediately, reboot the computer. Rebooting will restore the computer and its contents to its original design on drive C and the desktop. The P Drive will not be affected. To Reboot: Click the START button, click SHUT DOWN, highlight RESTART, click OK.
  12. Use My Washburn or ims.washburn.edu for e-mail. Outlook and other e-mail clients are unavailable in the lab.
  13. Chat and e-mail clients, such as Yahoo messenger, MS Messenger, Outlook, and AIM, are not available or permitted.
  14. When searching on Lexis or Westlaw, please use their 'standalone printer' default option when printing.
  15. Online games, such as online poker or fantasy baseball, are not permitted.
  16. Reboot the computer if the workstation does not respond. See reboot instructions above, #11.
