Admission Requirements

"I was hesitant at first because of the money, but it was completely worth it. Participating in the Washburn-Utrecht Summer Law Program would have been worth twice the amount."

Any U.S. or Canadian law student in good standing at a law school who will have completed one year of academic work prior to July 1, 2008 is eligible for the program. Washburn Law students are considered to be in good standing when their cumulative grade point average is 2.0 or above. Non-Washburn students must furnish a letter from the Dean or Registrar certifying their current good standing. By submitting a registration application, students are certifying that they will meet the admission requirements. Students must advise the Director of International Legal Programs of any change in academic status.

Applications must be received no later than April 15, 2008. Currently, enrollment is limited to 25 U.S. or Canadian law students and will be granted in order of application receipt. In 2007 there were 24 students enrolled in the program, 19 U.S. law students, four Utrecht University students and one student from France. Five or six academic scholarships will be awarded to Utrecht University students to attend the program.
