Criminal Procedure II - Ramirez for Tuesday, 1/10/2012
In preparation for our first class, please read Chapter One (pp.1-27) in Chemerinsky & Levenson, Criminal Procedure Adjudication. The first 11 pages are introductory materials that you should be familiar with already. We will cover a couple of key concepts (due process through procedural rules, incorporation of the bill of rights in criminal cases) that we will discuss through cases, Powell v. Alabama and Duncan v. Louisiana. Retroactivity rounds out the reading.

It has unfortunately gone out of print this past fall. If you have been able to purchase this text already, it can be an excellent course study aid for this class and I would be glad to give you corresponding pages in the outline that would be helpful to you in Remedies this Spring.
