Income Tax Service Provided by Washburn Law Students

For 11 Saturdays, from February 1 through April 12, members of Washburn Law's Tax and Estate Planning Association assisted approximately 200 local residents with preparing their 2013 tax returns. Students then filed the tax returns electronically to the IRS. Families and individuals grossing $52,000 or less were eligible for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Washburn University's business school students also volunteered their time.

In April, second-year law students Adeel Syed and Sarah Maupin were interviewed by Ralph Hipp on WIBW 13 News about the VITA program. Watch on YouTube.
