Marc A. Schultz, third-year student at Washburn University School of Law, received the 2001 Medal of Excellence in Bankruptcy from the American Bankruptcy Institute. The Medal, a Certificate of Excellence in Bankruptcy, and complimentary one-year membership in ABI was awarded to Mr. Schultz upon the recommendation of Professor Ronald Griffin and Dean James M. Concannon to the Institute. "Marc is an accomplished student and proved his abilities through a scholarly approach to his course work," Griffin stated. "Receiving the Medal of Excellence is a very great honor and Marc deserves it for his hard work."
The Medal of Excellence program was developed by Christopher F. Graham of the New York law firm of Thacher Proffitt & Wood and inaugurated by ABI in 1997. Each participating school selects the graduating student with the highest grade in a bankruptcy course or other indicia of bankruptcy scholarship.
