Mr. Jorgensen gave an insider's view of the workings of the Supreme Court. He began by commenting on each of the Justices with one or two personal anecdotes. He then described the role of law clerks and the procedures for selecting cases for review from the thousands that are appealed each year. Jorgensen shared his perceptions of the dynamics of interaction among the Justices and told about the procedure he followed in applying for judicial clerkships. He responded to questions from an audience of about 60 students and faculty and stayed after the presentation to respond to individual questions.

Jorgensen clerked for Judge Samuel Alito, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1997. He is now associated with the Washington, D.C. office of Sidley & Austin. Jorgensen was invited to the law school by the Washburn student chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society.
