Honorable Randy J. Holland Speaks at Washburn Law
Hon. Randy J. Holland, Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court, spoke to students and faculty on Thursday, January 13, 2000. Justice Holland discussed "The Role of the State of Delaware in the Development of the Law of Corporations." His talk included the historical basis of Delaware's preeminent role in corporate law and the responsibility of its Supreme Court in exercising, in effect, nationwide jurisdiction in corporate law matters as parties "forum shop" to make Delaware law applicable.
Justice Holland was appointed to the court in 1986 and was the youngest Justice in the state's history. He received the 1992 Judge of the Year Award from the National Child Support Enforcement Association. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Pennsylvania and Widener law schools. Prior to his appointment, Holland had been a partner in Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell.
Justice Holland was in Topeka to address a joint meeting of the three American Inns of Court Chapters in Kansas. He is a national Trustee and Vice-President elect of the American Inns of Court Foundation.
