The Head of Technical Services oversees the operation of the Department to ensure material is processed in a timely manner and made available to users as quickly as possible.
This position performs the following activities:
- Train support staff.
- Serve as the point of contact for the library's shared automation system and interacts with the system vendor and other ATLAS consortium members as needed.
- Catalog monographs and continuations which require more than just 'copy cataloging.'
- Catalog all print journals and serials.
- Review lists from the library's serials subscription agent to authorize renewal of journal subscriptions (in July and January).
- Compile acquisitions and cataloging statistics for the University (each June) and the ABA (each September).
- Review department procedures and activities with a goal of improving processing efficiency.
- Serve as web manager for Kansas Cases and Tenth Circuit opinions web sites (weekly and daily updating of these sites is normally performed by other staff).
- Oversee and update the Washburn Law School web site. Develop scripts and databases to generate pages as they are requested. Investigate and develop methods for distributing content creation and maintenance to other law school staff.
