Mark FolmsbeeThe Associate Dean Computer Services and Associate Director of the Law Library is responsible for all "day to day" operations of the law library, law school computing, and law school technology. Areas include reference, interlibrary loan, government documents, faculty services, looseleaf, circulation, reserve, stack maintenance, computing labs, instructional technology training, student computing services, classroom technology, signage, LAN and WAN computing servers and operating systems, law school inventory, law school door locking, law clinic library, and law library and classroom physical plant.
The position performs the following duties:
- Delegate tasks. Supervise librarians and staff associated with above.
- Regularly review and adapt librarian and staff job descriptions to better meet responsibilities above.
- In the absence of the Library Director, assume duties as Director.
- Initiate new services and products for the law school community.
- Coordinate law library and law school computing responsibilities with other university departments.
- Submit reports to the Library Director, the Dean, and Chair of the Library and Technology Committee.
- Initiate written plans and policy making as it applies to above.
- Prioritize tasks and set deadlines.
- Advise the Library Director on matters of space and shelving.
- Develop electronic guides to provide access to legal materials.
- Project and recommend annual budget requirements.
- Compile and interpret statistics.
- Utilize law student research assistants to amplify job performance.
- Lead national law library organizations.
- Acquire funding in support of above.
- Acquire and maintain partnerships with other legal organizations to enhance areas of responsibility.
- Speak at national and regional library and computer related conventions.
- Report to Library Director. Other tasks as assigned by Library Director, Dean, and Chair of the Library and Technology Committee.
