Robinson Courtroom and Bianchino Technology Center (the Courtroom) is a valuable Washburn Law resource. Special care must be taken to ensure the functionality of the technology as a learning resource is maintained at all times for the benefit of each Washburn Law student. Therefore, the following usage policy, approved by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, will be followed at all times by Washburn Law faculty, staff, students, and other users of the Courtroom.
- The Courtroom must be scheduled 24 hours in advance of its use. If technology training is required, it is recommended to reserve the Courtroom at least one week in advance in order to ensure a training date. Technology requiring training includes, but is not limited to: personal computer in the podium, connecting external laptop computers to the courtroom system, Smartboard, Eiki projection screen, sound system, VCR, cable television, or AM/FM radio.
- The Courtroom must be reserved with Glen McBeth, the Instructional Technology Librarian. Andrew Evans can schedule the Courtroom in the absence of Mr. McBeth.
- Training in the use of the Courtroom technology is required before it may be used. If training cannot be arranged at least 24 hours before use, then courtroom technology may not be utilized until proper training is received.
- Training is arranged at the Law Library’s Circulation Desk. Contact Glen McBeth at (785) 670-1778 or glen.mcbeth [at] washburn.edu to schedule a training time. In the event Glen McBeth is not available, Andrew Evans can provide training; he can be contacted at (785) 670-1787 or andrew.evans [at] washburn.edu
- If occupants of the Courtroom are not using the technology, they must sign the Courtroom User Agreement to verify they understand the technology is not to be touched and the podium and tables moved.
- Students groups who are not enrolled in trial advocacy classes must have a faculty sponsor present with them during their courtroom session.
- Problems with the technology should be reported to Glen McBeth or Andrew Evans.
- Law Library staff will unlock the Courtroom when it is time for use. Visit the Law Library Circulation Desk to sign the Courtroom Use Log and have the room unlocked.
- When you are done in the Courtroom, go to the Law Library Circulation Desk to sign out and have a staff member lock the doors.
- Both doors to the Courtroom are to be locked except when it is in use.
- No food or drink is allowed in the Courtroom.
- Users of the Courtroom may be held responsible for damages caused.
