What Have Interns Been Doing This Semester?
Practicing Law!

Interns practicing under Professor Francis' supervision are representing individuals charged with assault, battery, shoplifting, criminal damage to property, possession and use of drugs, and DUI's (among other criminal matters) in Topeka Municipal Court, Shawnee County District Court and Potawatomi Tribal Court. Some interns are also working on a habeas corpus matter in Federal District Court.

Professor Petty's interns are currently representing minors as Guardian Ad Litems and are representing individuals in divorce, permanent custodianships, adoption and paternity matters. Professor Petty is also accepting immigration cases in which the foreign born spouse is suffering from abuse and wants to self-petition for citizenship.

The interns practicing under the supervision of Professor Organick are representing individuals in both family law matters, as well as criminal misdemeanors. Students practice in Topeka Municipal Court, Shawnee County District Court, and Prairie Band Potawatomi and Kickapoo Nation Tribal Courts.

Professor Waugh supervises interns who have chosen to practice in the area of general civil litigation. These interns are currently representing individuals in areas such as real estate contracts, landlord/tenant, consumer issues, and writing Wills and Durable Power of Attorneys.
