What Is a Directed Intern?
A directed internship is available to Clinic interns who have successfully completed a semester as a regular intern in the Law Clinic. Directed Interns are assigned cases just as regular interns, they must keep regular office hours but do not have to attend the large group classes. Directed interns may enroll in 1 to 3 credit hours.
Jennifer Cross is practicing under the supervision of Professor Petty. Jennifer is currently assigned to family law and child in need of care cases. "The Washburn. Law Clinic has given me the opportunity to work with clients and represent them in court; the chance to zealously advocate and mediate. Being able to do things while still in school has been an experience I am truly grateful for."
Shane Seaton is specializing in criminal law matters under the supervision of Professor Francis. Shane is also investigating requests from prison inmates for assistance. "My clinical experience was so valuable, that I believe it should be required of all lawyers, just as it is for dentists and physicians."
Jill Taylor is handling several family law matters and child in need of care cases under Professor Petty's supervision. "Clinic not only allows you to practice what you learn in class, but it also acts as a teacher and protector."
