Civil Law Practice Concentration
The general civil practice concentration allows students to explore a wide range of civil matters and problems. These include:
- elder law issues,
- consumer complaints,
- landlord/tenant and lease issues,
- contract issues and
- tort defense.
Student interns in the clinic interview clients, pursue fact investigation, prepare and respond to pleadings, conduct depositions and represent clients in court. They soon understand the connection between specific legal problems and public policy concerns, and learn how general civil cases are often affected by family law and criminal law issues. Most importantly, they experience the practical responsibility of advocacy for their clients.
