Distinguished Tax Law Visitor
Each year the Business and Transactional Law Center at Washburn University School of Law hosts a Distinguished Tax Law Visitor. Visitors are prominent tax professionals in one of the three branches of the federal government or accomplished tax lawyers. Visitors generally spend a day and half in residence at the law school meeting local practitioners and law school faculty; lecturing at the law school; speaking to local practitioners; and meeting informally with students.
Visits generally include dinner with members of the local tax community in which the Visitors and tax professionals mingle and discuss matters of interest to the Visitor. Visitors also join students for an informal breakfast during which students are able to discuss with the Visitor the tax law profession, aspects of tax law and practice, and tax policy concerns that affect the most current tax law developments. Visitors also speak to local practitioners at a lunch seminar. Finally, Visitors take the floor in a law school tax course to lecture on important current tax issues and the structure of the tax system and tax-lawmaking process. This program provides students and members of the community the opportunity to interact with and learn from one of the nation's premier tax professionals.
The Business and Transactional Law Center has been pleased to host the following Distinguished Tax Law Visitors:
