Lenter, Legislation Counsel for the Joint Committee on Taxation, United States Congress, was the 2006 Distinguished Tax Law Visitor at Washburn University School of Law. In his presentation 'Recent Developments in Tax Legislation,' Lenter discussed the legislative process and recent developments on Capitol Hill as they relate to estate and gift taxation. Additional discussion included pending legislative issues, the current status of the estate tax repeal, and other current topics. Mr. Lenter also lectured in tax classes during his visit.

David Lenter is legislation counsel with the Joint Committee on Taxation. Mr. Lenter works on legislative matters in the areas of international tax, the taxation of financial instruments, estate and gift taxation, and the taxation of business enterprises.

Before joining the Joint Committee staff, Mr. Lenter was an associate in the tax group of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP); research attorney with the Office of Tax Policy Research at the University of Michigan Business School; and an associate in the tax groups of two large Detroit, Michigan, law firms.
