Educational Opportunities
Children & Family Law Clinic
To provide students valuable hands-on experience, the Children and Family Law Center at Washburn Law offers opportunities to represent clients under the supervision of law faculty in the Children and Family Law Clinic. The Center provides mentoring opportunities for students in a variety of ways. Students can work closely with lawyers in various settings, including Internships and Externships.
National Opportunities
The Center sponsors lectures, symposia, workshops and continuing legal education programs. The Annual Family Law Institute has been the regional authority in family law for nearly 20 years. The Center sponsors child advocacy training, collaborative law workshops and cosponsors programs with others who practice family law.
Other Opportunities
Washburn Law students have the opportunity to apply for staff positions on the Family Law Quarterly, a publication of the American Bar Association Family Law Section. One of the most widely cited publications in the country, Family Law Quarterly is edited and published at Washburn Law. Washburn Law students have also been selected nationally from hundreds of applicants to serve as the ABA Law Student Liaison to the Family Law Section and to the ABA Steering Committee on the Unmet Legal Needs of Children.
