Centennial Celebration

Thru the Years: 1983-1993

In 1988, Jim Concannon succeeded Carl Monk as dean. Under his leadership, the school saw a $5.2 million expansion of the law library to accommodate the growing collection and technological innovations. Dedicated in 1992, the expansion offered a new state-of-the-art computer lab and full automation of library services. With these improvements came increased alumni support. The school was able to double the amount of scholarship awards given in five short years. Washburn Law's success in seeking a diversified student body was recognized by the award of the Patricia Roberts Harris Fellowship by the U.S. Department of Education.

In 1992, the law library received national recognition for its leadership role in utilizing the Internet. The WashLaw Web service was called "perhaps the most comprehensive law-related site on the Internet."
