National Association of Women Judges Equal Access to Justice Scholarship

The National Association of Women Judges Equal Access to Justice Scholarship will be awarded to a Washburn University School of Law student who has demonstrated a sustained and passionate commitment to the achievement of equality of opportunity and access in the system of justice. The scholarship will be presented to the selected recipient on July 18, 2008, at the Kansas Women Attorneys Association annual conference in Lindsborg, KS.
Eligibility: Applicants are required to: (1) Be an enrolled second- or third-year law student in good standing for the 2008-2009 school year; and (2) submit an application, personal statement (500 words or less), and resume. The signed application, personal statement, and current resume must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008, to the chambers of Justice Carol A. Beier in the Kansas Judicial Center at 301 S.W. 10th Avenue, Suite 313, in Topeka.

The Bar Plan Foundation Scholarship

The Bar Pan Foundation is pleased to announce its seventh annual scholarship. The purpose of the award is to provide scholarships to third year law students enrolled in law schools located within the State of Kansas whom, in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of The Bar Plan Foundation, exemplify ethics and professionalism.
Eligibility: The applicant must be: 1. a resident of the State of Kansas; 2. a student entering the third year of law school at an accredited law school located within the State of Kansas at the time of the application; and 3. a full-time law student.

Robert Jaquith Law Scholarship

Beginning in 1982, the Robert Jaquith Law Scholarship is to be awarded at the discretion of the Robert Jaquith Scholarship Committee. This award will be derived from the earned interest of the contributions made to the Robert Jaquith Law Scholarship Fund. The amount of each award will be a maximum of $1,000.00. In any given year, the committee has the right to name more than one recipient or to not make an award in a given year.
Eligibility: 1. Applicants must have received an undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri (formerly Central Missouri State University). The degree must be conferred no later than September 1, of the year the award is granted. 2. Proof of admission to an ABA accredited law school must be provided priot to the award of scholarship funds.

Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program

The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) was founded in 1997 to advocate for the expanded hiring, retention, and promotion of minority attorneys in corporate law departments and the law firms that serve them. MCCA accomplishes its mission through the collection and dissemination of information about diversity in the legal profession. Together with the United Negro College Fund, MCCA has begun a new initiative, the Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program, for college seniors planning to attend law school beginning in the fall of 2008.The MCCA will award 10 scholarships at $10,000 per year for each of three years in law school. The total commitment per student will be $30,000. In addition, several runner-ups will also receive a one-time gift of $10,000 for their participation. Eligibility: Entering first year law students who have been accepted into an accredited law school for Fall 2008.
