Upper-Level Curriculum

Upper-Level Requirements

Washburn Law prides itself on the strength of its curriculum. Students have the opportunity to study a broad range of subjects, and the opportunity to study them in detail.

Beyond the upper-level requirements, you are encouraged to select a study program that meets your individual interests. Many students add an element of concentration by participating in one of the school's certificate programs. Students who have specialized interests may also design independent study programs or explore academic options by participating in the activities of the school's signature programs in advocacy, business and transactional law, children and family law, and law and government.

Pro Bono Program

The Pro Bono Program encourages students to embrace their future professional obligations by providing legal services to people of limited means. Pro Bono Service is law-related work that improves the law, the legal system, or the legal profession. All legal activities are performed under the supervision of a licensed attorney.

Intensive Trial Advocacy Training Program

ITAP, Washburn Law's week-long Intensive Trial Advocacy Program, brings law students and public service lawyers to campus for focused trial advocacy skills training. A large program faculty of experienced judges and trial lawyers works closely with participants to develop their skills in trial strategy, examination of witnesses, and argument. The program culminates with a simulated jury trial.
