Tuition and Costs for LL.M. Program

Estimated tuition cost for the 2023-2024 academic year is a flat $33,000. This flat rate provides students with financial certainty. Half of the tuition is charged in a student's first semester and the second half in the second semester.

Unlike some other programs which are based on per credit hour charges, students pay tuition on a flat-rate basis. All LL.M. students must complete 24 credit hours in classroom courses, but may also enroll in a maximum of 6 additional credits during the academic year at no additional tuition cost beyond the required 24 credits.

In addition to tuition, students should plan on the following minimum expenses per academic year (two semesters), estimated by the Washburn University Office of International Programs, while studying at Washburn University School of Law and living in Topeka, Kansas:

$ 2,000 - Textbooks (Please note that the cost of textbooks is not included in tuition and that textbook cost depends upon a student's area of study and selection of courses.)
$10,757 - Living Expenses (room and board, includes utilities and food)
$ 2,000 - Items such as clothing, laundry, personal care, entertainment, and miscellaneous
$ 1,200 - Transportation (Topeka Metro bus service is free with Washburn ID; additional costs may be associated using Uber or Lyft to travel around Topeka and from/to Kansas City International Airport)
$ 110 - Student activity fee ($55 per semester)
$ 2,300 - Health insurance (see Benefit Summary Flyer-International at Wellfleet website; note that deductibles and coinsurance apply in addition to the premium)
$ 2,640 - Educational Materials Access Fee

Students should also consider whether they may need to purchase other items of clothing to be comfortable in Topeka's climate.

LL.M. applicants are automatically considered for scholarship awards based on need and the applicant's academic record.
